Abstract
In this paper, the performance of sandwich structures with grid core and two different types of materials, including C/SiC and E-glass epoxy subjected to three-point bending, is investigated, numerically. Furthermore, effects of three different kind s of fiber angle, 0-45-90, 0-90-45, and 45-90-0 are investigated. Numerical results show that sandwich structures made with C/SiC material with 0-45-90 fiber angle has a better bending behavior.
In the last deiced, application of fuel cell as a portable power, backup, transportation and stationary power, has attracted the attention of many researchers. The fuel cell made of the anode, cathode and different plate. Underestimating the importance of the end plate in the fuel cell is not logical, its play crucial role in increasing the mechanical behavior of fuel cell and increase its capacity. Utilizing the composite plate like sandwich plate can increases the load-bearing capacity of this plate. Yu et.al [1] presents the method to design and manufacture the sandwich endplates whose face and core are made of carbon fiber reinforced composite and honeycomb/foam, respectively. The aim of this paper is to examine how the fiber angle and material properties can affect the bending behaver and load-bearing capacity of the end plate in the fuel cell.
In this study, sandwich specimens consist of three face sheets with three different fiber angle (0-45-90, 0-90-45, and 45-90-0) and core configurations were fabricated. Fig. 1 illustrated the geometrical characteristics of sandwich plat.
In order to predict the mechanical behavior and failure modes of studied sandwich structures, a 3D FEM was developed using commercial finite element software ABAQUS/Explicit, release 16.14.
In this paper, firstly the effects of different fiber angle for E-glass epoxy composite was investigated(Fig.2). according to this fig composite plat with fiber angle 0-45-90 has a better bending behaver. Then the Energy-Strain curves of C/SiC composite with different fiber angle under static three-point bending test was reported (Fig.2 b). As Then the Energy-Strain curves of C/SiC composite with different fiber angle under static three-point bending test was reported (Fig.2 b). As it shown similar to the E-glass epoxy composite, plat with fiber angle 0-45-90 has a more load-bearing capacity.
